Walden teaches girls self-reliance, encourages self-confidence, promotes leadership capabilities, and provides an atmosphere where girls can learn to live together, while appreciating others as individuals. Walden is happiness, laughter, spirit, friendship, warmth, affection and tradition. Located in a rustic setting on 200 acres in Southern Maine, we have a balance of old traditions with building self esteem and preparing girls for the future with leadership skills. Small enrollment (140 campers, ages 9-15, per session) insures a more personal touch.

The caring, nurturing ambiance of Kippewa sets a girl at ease with who she is, giving her the confidence to make friends easily and feel comfortable about trying challenging new activities. Enrollment is limited to 140 campers. This intimate size allows the directors to personally know the campers and their parents, and assures that the camp's many opportunities are readily available to every girl. Kippewa is large enough to have plenty of girls in every age group and to support a lavish activities program, and small enough so that everyone in camp gets to know everyone else.

Four decades of expanding opportunities have created camps-within-camps at Kippewa For Girls: There are major programs in horseback riding, studio and performing arts, gymnastics, tennis, field sports, water sports and wilderness camping trips.
